Anayansi
Prado, Director/Producer, was born in Panama and holds a B.A.
in Broadcasting and Film from the School of Communications
at Boston University. In 1998, Anayansi moved to Los Angeles
and founded IMPACTO FILMS, a production company geared toward
the production of documentaries with a social impact.
MAID
IN AMERICA is IMPACTO FILMS’ first production. In April
2002, Anayansi received a grant from the John D. and Catherine
T. MacArthur Foundation for the production of MAID IN AMERICA.
A second grant was awarded in the Fall of 2003 for post-production.
In August 2003, Anayansi was a fellow at the 1st ever Latino
Producers Academy in Tucson, Arizona, which was organized
and sponsored by NALIP. In September 2003, Anayansi served
as a director/producer for a documentary on The Immigrant
Workers Freedom Ride, a 12 day cross-country bus trip geared
to bringing awareness and change to the working conditions
of immigrants in the United States. Anayansi is currently
also working as a researcher & camera operator for the
PBS documentary series Beyond The Dream: California stories,
directed by veteran filmmakers Lyn Goldfarb, Paul Espinosa
among others. Anayansi has been a guest speaker at educational
institutions such as Scripps College, Cal Poly Pomona and
Toledo University. She has lectured on Immigrants and Women
Labor Rights and Independent Filmmaking. Anayansi is a proud
member of the National Association of Latino Independent Producers
(NALIP), International Documentary Association (IDA) and the
Alpha 60 film collective in Los Angeles, California. She lives
in Silverlake California and is currently in research and
development of her next documentary about minors who enter
the US without a legal guardian and the Immigration system.

Kevin
Leadingham – Producer/Cameraman - has established himself
as both a steadfast and versatile documentary and Reality
Television producer and director. Kevin first turned his attention
to documentaries with the award winning documentary A Refugee
and Me, shot on location in Thailand, followed by Witch Way
to Hollywood, a look into the making of a BlairWitch Project
spoof. Kevin then served as Field Producer and Videographer
on U. S. Marshals: The Real Story and The Hunt for Amazing
Treasures III for TLC, and Lifeline: Las Vegas for Discovery
Communications. He is currently producing two independent
documentaries: Maid In America – a portrait of Latina
domestic workers in Los Angeles, and Mama’s Gold –
which documents a privately run orphanage in southern China.
Kevin’s resume also includes producing and camera credits
for programs such as: A Second Look (E!), FM Nation (MTV),
My Life is a Sitcom (ABC Family Channel), The Season: Oakland
Raiderettes & Sidelines: LA Hoops & Totally Hooked
(ESPN) NASCAR DRIVER: 360 (FX),Underweigh: Life Aboard the
U.S.S. Peliliu (Travel Channel), Berman & Berman (Discovery
Health Channel), The Bravest (Syndicated). Trading Moms (ABC)
and Playing It Straight (Fox). Currently Kevin is serving
as producer for Fox’s Oscar De La Hoya’s boxing
reality show The Golden Boy.

Esther
Maluto - Production Manager - is a Los Angeles native born
in East Los Angeles and raised in South Central. Esther obtained
her BA at Cal State Northridge in Radio Television and Film
with an emphasis in Media Management. She is currently employed
as a Coordinator with Warner Bros. Television Estimating in
Television Production. She works closely with Production Executives,
Accountants along with Cast and Crew members of popular hit
television shows such as Drew Carey, The Fugitive, Norm, Nikki
Cox and For Your Love. Her main goal is to make a difference
in the Entertainment Industry by watching and helping the
promotion of the Latin Community. The ability to see more
of the Latin artists on television/films portraying positive
rolls is her mission.

Vanessa
Garcia - Associate Producer - is completing her senior year
at Loyola Marymount University as a film production major.
As a filmmaker she would like to pose the audience food for
thought with regards to social and philosphical dilemmas such
as gender and cultural identity issues as well as the overall
meaning of human existence. In her work, she utilizes the
medium of film as a platform for reflection. In the Fall of
2003, Vanessa spent 6 months in Germany as part of Loyola’s
study abroad film program.

Alejandro Valdes – Editor - is a native of Mexico
City who’s been working in the film industry in the
US for over 7 years. As a teen, he landed his first job as
an apprentice editor on Mexico’s first financial newscast
“Monitor Financiero”. After a period of time dedicated
to traveling and spiritual exploration in India, Asia and
Europe, Alejandro moved to Los Angeles and reemerged in the
entertainment industry. Since he’s worked in films such
as “Vertical Limit”, an action feature in which
he served as assistant editor. Other credits include Moulin
Rouge, Road to Perdition and A Day Without a Mexican. In the
last couple of years, Alejandro has also been producing his
own work. He directed and produced the short film, Contratiempos;
and produced and edited the documentary Malinche, the noble
slave. He plans to continue editing, focusing primarely in
documentaries projects.

Louis
Bravo - Additional Editing - was born in Inglewood, CA and
raised in East Los Angeles. He received his B.A. in Broadcasting
Communications from CalState - Los Angeles. Louis is a very
talented and community minded individual who, while in school,
volunteered his time to teach video production at the West
San Gabriel Valley Boys and Girls Club. Currently, Louis heads
the video production unit for the Educational Opportunity
Program - L.A. and helps teach a digital arts workshops for
Plaza de la Raza. Louis hopes to establish his career as an
editor and video graphic artist.

Robert F. Trucios – Music Supervisor/Composer -
has been writing music for film since 1995. He is a dedicated
and very dependable artist who, in the process of music making,
has been given the opportunity to compose over thirty features
and shorts, 5 of which have been within the past year. Classically
trained in music theory and an accomplished instrumentalist
in piano, woodwinds, and percussion, Mr. Trucios writes and
produces music with sonic qualities influenced by classical,
romantic, and jazz, as well as hip-hop, electronic and traditional
forms from Latin America, the Middle-East, and Africa. His
music juxtaposes acoustic instruments with modern synthesis
and sampling to create a collage of textures and moods for
his scores. As every film is individual and unique, so is
the music Mr. Trucios composes for them. Recording and additional
production is executed on ProTools as well as mixing, and
mastering. As a music producer he has produced songs for hip-hop,
rap, world and indie rock albums and is currently working
on the Augusto Polo Campos, Jr. album and pre-production on
a tribute to Celia Cruz.

Salvador
Zapien - Photographer - having studied Sociology at UCLA,
Salvador now works for the main undergraduate computerlab
on campus as the technical support coordinator. What was once
a hobby, photography has become a passion for him. Salvador
is on his way to transforming the passion into a craft and
eventually into art. Salvador lives in the Palms/Culver City
area and carrys at least one camera with him wherever he goes.

Silvia
Capistran - Web/Graphic Designer - was born in Jalisco, Mexico
and raised in Los Angeles, CA. She received her B.A. in art
from California State University, Northridge. Silvia is the
co-founder and gallery director of “La Mano Press”
an artist-run center dedicated to the promotion and appreciation
of printmaking. As a painter, a graphic artist and web designer,
Silvia likes to express herself through her art.

Daireen
Galeano - Webmaster - was born in Los Angeles and raised in
Southern California. She studied art and French at l'Université
d'Avignon and received her Bachelor of Arts degree in French
from California Lutheran University. She later pursued a career
in International television, working at three of the top film
studios. In December 1999, Daireen began her new career in
web design. She received a Certificate in Web Design from
Learning Tree University in June 2000 and worked as a web
designer for Universal Studios. She has used her new skills
to build and launch several sites from the ground up and continues
to stay up-to-date with the latest web technologies by continuing
her education through various courses. She hopes to use these
skills to enhance the Maid in America design by creating a
more dynamic site.

Mary
Romero - Consultant - is the author of Maid in the U.S.A.
(Routledge, 1992), co-editor of Challenging Fronteras: Structuring
Latina and Latina Lives in the U.S. (Routledge, 1997), Women
and Work: Exploring Race, Ethnicity and Class (Sage, 1997),
Women's Untold Stories: Breaking Silence, Talking Back, Voicing
Complexity. (Routledge, 1999). Her most recent articles on
"Maids in the America" can be found in the Journal
of Gender, Social Policy & the Law, University of Miami
Law Review, and Dollars and Sense. She has held administrative
positions at Yale University, San Francisco State University,
and the University of Oregon; and has also taught at University
of Colorado, University of Texas at El Paso, and University
of Wisconsin-Parkside. Her institutional affiliations have
included women's studies, ethnic studies, Chicana/o and Latina/o
Studies, and sociology. She currently teaches in the School
of Justice Studies at Arizona State University. A special
10th anniversary of Maid in the USA was published earlier
this year.

Pierrette
Hondagneu-Sotelo - Consultant - is Associate Professor of
Sociology at the University of Southern California. She is
the author of Domesticas: Immigrant Workers Cleaning and Caring
in the Shadows of Affluence” (University of California
Press, 2001), Gendered Transitions: Mexican Experiences of
Immigration (California, 1994) and co-editor of Challenging
the Fronteras: Structuring Latina and Lives in the U.S. (1997)
and Gender through the Prism of Difference: Readings on Sex
and Gender (2000).

Rafael M. Lopes - Business Consultant
- is a professional marketer, Internet expert, and product
innovator. Mr. Lopes is a native of Southern California, has
an MBA from Loyola Marymount University and has been recognized
by the International Who's Who of Entrepreneurs and featured
in HERO Magazine. Prior to development of Envien Group (www.envien.com),
Mr. Lopes was a founding partner of Web-Alley Associates in
1994. He serves on the advisory boards of Core Wellness and
Safe Place for Pediatric AIDS as well as being a spokesperson
for the American Red Cross.
